Abstract : The article presents and analyses a didactic process implemented for several years in a BA course in Educational Science. The point is to ask the students to write memories related to their reading or writing activity and about the way both are learnt. These texts written at the beginning of the course give way to some look backs during the lectures and are used as media for the intermediate and final assessments. Therefore our subject matter is these specific language exercises i.e. written memories of real life experiences and their analysis. After presenting the theoretical foundations of the process, we present and discuss the changes in operating the device in the course of years, then we determine the interests and limits of the process and finally we evaluate its effects by the means of an analysis of some pieces of writing done by students. What comes out of the analysis of the process is the confirmed interest of working with the students on language practices that bring out the reflexive dimension of writing while training
